Goodbye lonely troubadour; hello Captain Swing. After the austere solo efforts on The Texas Campfire Tapes album and the solo tour she did after the Peter Anderson-produced follow-up, Short Sharp Shocked, Michelle Shocked is changing. She’s now touring with a full band that includes two horns and keyboards capable of bolstering the horn section and filling in the strings found on her latest record.
The lyrics are far from a sell-out to pop evergreens; it’s vintage Shocked. But the music ranges from boogie to swing to big band blues and is a pleasant surprise. A recommended performance.
Shocked will perform today at 8 p.m. at the Bronco Bowl, 2600 Fort Worth Ave. Tickets are $19.50 (plus surcharge) at Rainbow Ticketmaster, 787-2000.
